My Thoughts {The Beautiful Creatures Film Trailer}

Another book to film adaptations and this time The Caster Chronicles: Beautiful Creatures. The book itself was a good read with an interesting idea and concept. Who doesn't like a badass female character instead of having it the other way round? Well that definitely did appeal to me.

After watching the trailer I think there will be some perks to the film and you'll probably see me in the cinema  with lots of popcorn on February 13th 2013 ready to watch it.

The Cast:
I think as a whole the casting choices seem rather good, having quirky actors like Emma Thompson definitely is a highlight. Alice Englebert who is playing Lena Duchannes sure is close to looking the part of what I had in mind even though I expected someone with a darker feel but I sure think she'll do a good job on taking on the role and playing a fierce Lena. When I first laid eyes on Ethan's character I didn't know what to make of the actor but I think I'm warming towards him and can't wait to see how he'll portray Ethan. The other cast members seem really promising.

The Setting:
I loved the look of where the film is set, the woody and green surrounding emphasises the whole naturalistic and magical side of the book along with the old buildings and greenery.

The Plot:
This looks like a film that will stay true to the book. The glass shattering while Lena is in class is definitely accurately shown like it is described in the book. All the key moments seem to be there so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Others:
What I really liked about the trailer was meeting the Duchannes family, there is this 'Alice in Wonderland' feel to it, like I was at a Mad Hatter's tea party which is absolutely intriguing. The effects department definitely don't let you down as there are lots of cool moments that make you go WOW. What is a magical film without it's snazzy effects and all.

If you haven't read the book and are interested I suggest you pick it up and give it a try.

The film comes out February 13th 2013.

What are your thoughts about the trailer?

See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

Favourite Quote

“I don't have you, and without you, it feels like what I do have doesn't matter.”

My Thoughts

MY SOUL TO STEAL definitely delievered and had me hooked, the series continues to be awesome, there's jealousy, mystery, terror all mixed together to create another great edition to the series.

I sure do love the soul screamers series. It keeps you guessing, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and it keeps your head buried in the book. MY SOUL TO STEAL did all those things too!

In this book I think you get a more of an insight into Nash's background and get to know more about him and his past. I love how Rachel Vincent is great at creating characters who all stand alone well and have depth. Sabine, who is a new character comes with a past of mystery which left me guessing throughout the book whether she could be trusted or not.

The one thing I would have liked to see was something new that might give the book a whole new depth and might will have you picking up the next book straightaway. Other than that, this series continues to impress and I can't wait to read more soon.

My Book Boyfriend #7 {Luke Henry}

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by Missie @ The Unread Reader and Lesley @ My Keeper Shelf. This meme is one of my favourites because it gives me the chance to show off some of the many awesome book boyfriend's there are out there.

I don't know why it's taken me so long to get round to reading this book but this week I finished reading 'Forgotten' by Cat Patrick and I loved it. I was captured by the book and there definitely is a guy who is worth swooning over.

Luke Henry
(the name sounds so chivalrous, hot right?)

  • Beautiful blue eyes
  • Dark blond hair
  • Dimples
  • Likes to wear brown converse sneakers
  • Talented artist who draws/paints ears
  • Cares about those he loves
  • Plans great romantic dates

Quotes

“I can’t stay away from you,” he whispers...“Don’t stay away from me, then,” I whisper back...”

And then he moves closer.
I hold my breath, considering that Luke might kiss me right here in the middle of the commons.  Just as I'm deciding whether or not I can kiss with an audience, Luke, staring intently into my eyes, raises  a hand towards me face.  Slowly, softly, he rubs his thumb along my jawbone.  I'm hypnotised by the most perfect kind of touch.  Oddly, it feels even more intimate than a kiss.

“The boy in the closet is your boyfriend. He loves you and will tell you all about last night.” “Cute,” I say, feeling my eyelids droop and sleep approach. “Don’t forget to tell me about the last hour in the closet.” “I’ll re-create it for you tomorrow,” Luke says...”

Review: One Moment by Kristina McBride

Book Title: One Moment
Author: Kristina McBride
Publisher: Egmont USA
Publication Date: June 26, 2012
Page Count: 272
Buy The Book: Amazon | Barnes and Noble |

Synopsis

This was supposed to be the best summer of Maggie’s life. Now it’s the one she’d do anything to forget.
Maggie remembers hanging out at the gorge with her closest friends after a blowout party. She remembers climbing the trail with her perfect boyfriend, Joey. She remembers that last kiss, soft, lingering, and meant to reassure her. So why can’t she remember what happened in the moment before they were supposed to dive? Why was she left cowering at the top of the cliff, while Joey floated in the water below–dead?

As Maggie’s memories return in snatches, nothing seems to make sense. Why was Joey acting so strangely at the party? Where did he go after taking her home? And if Joey was keeping these secrets, what else was he hiding?

Favourite Quote

“What if it's as simple as one moment? One tiny thing, like that kiss on the rocks? What if I'd kissed him a little longer? Would he be alive right now? Or what if I'd stayed with him Friday night, what if I'd been with him… wherever he was?”

Words To Describe The Book

Raw

My Thoughts

ONE MOMENT is a light and beautifully written book that keeps you hooked but also puts into perspective the emotions and feelings of losing someone.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I began reading, ONE  MOMENT brings a new twist to many books I've read that similarly go through a loss of a loved one. The author does a great job highlighting the strong feelings of friendship and love and how a single loss can affect all these different parts of a person's life.

ONE MOMENT presents the struggle of losing someone that you think you know so well but than having your world turned upside down and realising you don't know them at all. The book throws in a mystery and slowly unravels the story which grips the reader because of the overwhelming emotions which I could really feel as a reader.

The author creates a tight knit group of friends, you really get a feel and sense each of the characters and you can see individuality emerge in a few of them. I would have loved to have known more about some of the characters but I was glad you got to really explore certain characters and really get a gist of what sort of people they were. At one point everything seems to be falling apart, you feel all these raw emotions which is so well penned down by the author.

There are so many strong feelings throughout but as you get to the end you're left with this light feeling, the ending was beautiful and refreshing, you begin to see the start of new paths and you can't help but be happy too.

Quick description

  • Male bean sidhe
  • Hypnotic hazel eyes with amazing swirls of brown and green
  • Beautiful chestnut hair
  • Athletic
  • Plays football and baseball in school
  • Loyal and protective

Quotes

"I don't have you, and without you, it feels like what I do have doesn't matter."

“You just say the word, and I'll make the rest of the world go away. I'll take you someplace safe, where no one else can reach us.”

“He shrugged, looking right into my eyes. "Right now, this is all I feel." He held our intertwined hands up for me to see and I wanted to look away, but I couldn't break the hold his gaze had on me, like he could see more than anyone else saw. Things I couldn't see myself.”

“There’s an us?”
“As far as I’m concerned…” He leaned forward, his mouth inches from mine, and my pulse spiked. “There’s nothing but us.”

Is Nash not swoon worthy?
